Where the world either makes or breaks you. In the sleepy little town just off of New York is where we set our scene, people are born, they live, the reproduce then they die. Normal to this city though is the drama, the higher rank in life you have, the easier life is meant to get. But that is never true, dram sneaks round like a sly fox, life isn’t what it seems here, come see for yourself lets us cut you open.

». One thing was for sure, and that was that Vegas hadn't been herself for around two weeks now. Normally she looked happy, was friendly towards people, focused on her school work, and was just fine in general. Ever since the first basketball game of the season though, she had been almost the complete opposite. Whenever you saw her now she probably didn't have anything close to a smile on her face, she was being a bit distant with her friends and not talking to them as much, actually falling behind on all of her school work and wasn't able to tutor anyone this week because of it, and seemed pretty depressed. It wasn't that she wanted to be like that because she really didn't, but everything that had been going on between her and Matthew wasn't working too well with her.
». It seemed like it was just yesterday that the couple was smiling, joking around with each other, and everything was going perfectly fine with them. Just before the first basketball of the season though, Vegas had noticed that Matthew wasn't really being himself. He was more quiet and kept to himself, and it felt like she was speaking to a wall whenever she tried talking with him because he'd either just stare off into space or walk off. Then after the basketball game where he got a little heated and they went home, she tried talking with him again and this time she actually got a response out of Matthew, but it wasn't one she wanted. They argued to the point where they were just sort of yelling at each other, ending the conversation there and not saying anything to one another until pretty much the next afternoon at school when they were sort of forced to with being partnered up for an assignment. They didn't talk about what had happened though, just the assignment and then as soon as class was over, they went their seperate ways for the rest of the day. It was as if they weren't even married, more like they were complete strangers.
». Vegas had hoped that maybe this type of behavior would only continue for maybe another day or two and then whatever was bugging Matthew would blow over and they could go back to the way they were with each other, but it seemed like things just got worse by the day. They couldn't really talk to each other without an arguement erupting, most of the hostility coming from Matthew since Vegas didn't like fighting in the first place, especially when it was with her husband. She wasn't being completely innocent and hurt in the situation though because she had been spatting out rude things to him as well and would whenever he made her mad enough. She was trying to keep herself from doing it because she missed the old Matthew and the way they were before any of this drama came into place. She missed getting to hold his hand when they went anywhere, kissing him inbetween classes or just anytime of the day, getting to tell him that she loved him, feeling close to him, she even missed just getting to cook crappy pancakes with him.
». The eighteen year old wasn't sure what time it was right now, she had lost track of it after a few days of no real sleep. Maybe she would get around an hour or two everynight but sleeping on the couch was uncomfortable after a bit and then there were the few minutes that she could get in class if she sat in the back and was careful about it. Vegas had just stopped sleeping in the bedroom all together with Matthew because it was too awkward and depressing to her how they never cuddled next to eachother anymore or talked with eachother like they used to, and obviously the whole 'no sex' part wasn't the greatest either. The only other time Matthew had ever been like this with Vegas, she did use sex to get him to listen to her and it worked and they were fine with eachother the next day, but she wasn't going to this time since it seemed like it wouldn't even work from the way they had been acting. She didn't even see him last night since he never came home, and it did worry her because she knew that he had been drinking a lot lately and she didn't know if he was alright or not. Vegas sat on the couch while staring blankly at the television screen with We Are Marshall playing, not one of her favorite movies but it was all that was really on at this time of day.

Mr. Matthew Freeman 'there is no one else, that can understand what happens in my heart'
Matthew wasn’t acting normal, continuous drinking, even starting a few fights and hardly attending classes, and the few he does Vegas seems to be watching him all the time. He didn’t even talk to people anymore, people were catching on that the married couple were acting the same, maybe a break in the marriage bond, or something on those lines, but everyone could see that something had really fucked up that relationship since the first game of the basketball season. It was weird trying to act normal in front of the whole school, most of the time Matt just bunked off and went out drinking and other stuff like that, he was a wreck, just not himself, not the basketball star that loved to play the game and be with his wife, instead he was the guy that drunk until he couldn’t stand, didn’t attend practice anymore, and just all round tried to avoid his wife at all costs.
It is a wonder that this couple were all fine and dandy only a couple of weeks back, holding hands, cuddling and just living life, and most of all living it together. Now it was like they didn’t know each other, most conversations ended up with someone slamming the door leaving, or a full on shouting match. Matthew just didn’t listen anymore, he was like a wall that you cannot break through, he just sat there took it and then walked out of the door when she had finished, nothing more could be said to him, and then he would most likely come back in the early morning, to find himself passed out on the couch from the heavy drinking the night before. The night of the basketball game was horrid; they went home after Matthew had punched another player from the other team and had to be taken off the court by James. Then when they got homes Vegas tried to talk to him, he just blanked her out before yelling at her and leaving the door, coming back early morning and crashing on the couch like usual. He didn’t speak to her the next day, well anything on the topic of the argument, but only work, then he acted like a stranger with her.
Matthew was normally the one to make it worst, shouting back at her, knowing that she just cared and wanted to make sure he was ok, but he normally made it worst and said rude things and just made her feel small, which you shouldn’t do, especially to your wife, and he loved her so much but just when he thought of anything, simple little thing it would trigger the past off and then he would just be unable to control himself, and the words that seep from his jaw. He missed her though; he missed her smile, because it was always a frown or clenching her teeth upset with him. Then if she touched him it would be a shove, or a push to get away from her, and they didn’t even kiss nor have sex anymore, they didn’t even get close enough. That was what he missed, and the way that he couldn’t tell her that he loved her, and he was sorry because his ego and his anger got ahead of him and made everything worst than before, this was not a marriage this was hell.
Matthew had not been home all night, since they had an argument before he left he never returned, finding sympathy if no other than Scarlett Wilde. They went out like normal teenagers and just had a couple of drinks and just some fun, him of course being a little bitter but after a lot of alcohol and dancing he had loosened and agreed to go back to her place and have some coffee, as well he didn’t wish to go home back to Vegas as he knew that she would be really pissed at him like normal when he came in at such ridiculous hours. So when he was at Scarlett they talked to each other and he kind of poured his heart out to her about everything getting on top of him, everything just catching up with him and he couldn’t do anything about it. She understood but when she made a move to kiss him he moved away, saying that even if him and Vegas are not on good form, he still loved her with all his heart, then Scarlett just left him downstairs and there he slept for the remainder of the night.
That morning at around 7am he left the house, leaving Scarlett a note saying thanks for the night and see her in school, and then he made his way home, stinking of a mixture of alcohol and woman’s fragrance. He took a long time walking home, taking the longest route possible just to clear his head before he got home, but the weird thing was he was still angry even when he thought about anything, his muscles all tense and solid and he was just unable to stop the adrenaline flowing through his veins. As he came to the apartment he climbed the stairs taking the keys from his pocket and placed them in the door, opening it he walked inside and took his jacket off, throwing it next to the door before he threw the keys on the coffee table, seeing Vegas on the couch before he moved to the kitchen, opening the fridge and took a bottle of water, cracked the seal and consumed a large amount of water, to get that after taste from his mouth.

». It felt like the whole break down of their marriage was being played out infront of other people as well, Vegas not liking how everyone she spoke to automatically wanted to talk about how she was doing with Matthew and asked why they didn't see the two around eachother as much anymore where not long ago, they couldn't keep their hands off of each other and seemed perfectly fine. The last tutoring session she had was around four or five days ago, Vegas having to help out a freshman girl with her math. While Vegas was in the middle of texting someone and the girl was supposedly working on the math problems Vegas had given her, she heard the girl say "It's a good thing that you didn't get that tattoo for him." Vegas had glanced up from her cellphone, knowing what the girl was talking about and remembering that the last time they had to meet up for tutoring, they were talking about the guys they were with and what sort of present they could get them for Valentines Day. Vegas told her about his jersey number a little bit below her hip but how that wasn't all she was going to give him, and she still hadn't gotten it. "Why do you say that?" Vegas had questioned soon after with curiousity in her voice, the girl looking at her surprised while asking back "Well, you guys are getting a divorce, right?"
». Just the thought of having to get a divorce was enough to start to bring small tears to Vegas' hazel eyes, knowing that things probably did look rough with them if people were beginning to think now that they would be seperating for good. If she could at least know what it was that had made him want to start acting like this then maybe she could figure out a way to help him and get everything right again, but they didn't talk long enough for her to find out anything and if there was any verbal communication between them, then it was just words that Vegas didn't even want to hear. She tried to look on the bright side of things like she usually did and just think that soon enough they would be happy together again and it would be as if none of this had ever even happen, but it was pretty hard to tell herself that and then believe it. She didn't think that they would be getting a divorce just over something like this, but she did think it was putting a bad dent into their relationship nonetheless.
». Something that Vegas had always hated to do was cry, especially infront of other people. She was a sensitive girl at times so if you said a certain thing to her then it would hurt her feelings and she wouldn't get over it until you apologized, she'd just act like everything was fine because she didn't like anyone to think of her as a sad person. You were plain stupid though if you didn't see that she had been depressed and unlike Matthew, she was opening up to people that were trying to help her because she definitely didn't want to feel like this for much longer. Everyone that was trying to talk to her though wasn't helping at all because they were all telling her what she didn't want to hear, which was that her and Matthew were over and she might as well just give up on him now and file for divorce while they were still young. Her parents definitely supported that idea since they hated the fact that she had gone against their wishes and married him, saying that if she went ahead and left him now that they would be willing to help her out with money again and she wouldn't have to tutor people for it like she did now. Right now though, Vegas would just rather be with Matthew and miserable than without him at all.
». Even if they weren't talking, she still wanted him to be in the apartment with her. She was used to him always being around here and she felt completely lonely without him there, it wasn't helping that he continued to leave and wouldn't come back until really late at night or extremely early in the morning. She wasn't the type to try to follow along with everything her guy did because she thought that was too overprotective and she trusted Matthew, but after everything that had been going on lately, she was having her doubts. Her eyelids started to slowly close but opened again once she heard the front door unlocking, able to see that it was her husband in the reflection of the television. Her nose stung a little bit when he walked by, a mixture of alcohol and some type of cheap perfume making her feel like she was going to sneeze. Vegas' eyes were starting to tear up but hardly, not knowing whether it was because of the stinging smell he had on him or because of what that smell was making her think. She didn't expect him to talk to her at all when he came back home, and she didn't want to say anything to him with the fear of him just being mean to her, but she turned around on the couch anyways, blinking at Matthew while he drank some of the water and hesitated on what she wanted to ask him for a few seconds. "Are you cheating on me?" she questioned with a bit of sadness and curiousity in her voice, still looking over at him.

Mr. Matthew Freeman 'there is no one else, that can understand what happens in my heart'
The weird thing in their school was that when something happened people added and took pieces from it. I mean Vegas and Matthew had not be flaunting round that they were having a bad time, but most people were making up their own stories to it all, like Matt forced Vegas into horrid sex with him and some other girls. I mean come on, get realistic, you could see number one it was a guy’s fantasy most likely, and what they would want to happen. Some even came up with stories of them getting an annulment to act like none of this ever happened, and that is was a stupid teenager mistake, which was no where near anything that was really going on. Matt’s mates had been asking him questions, due to his strange behavior lately and he would just brush them off and go for a walk, he had enough of people asking questions, he wanted to be alone. He had heard that some girl had been asking Vegas some questions, about them divorcing and so forth, and it confused him, he hoped that she didn’t think of them divorcing that was the last thing he would ever hope for between him and Vegas, even thought times were rough at the moment.
Matthew had bumped into James a few nights ago, of course James was acting concerned and saying that Aimee wanted to speak to him and that he should go home. Matthew of course didn’t listen and they ended up having a good old verbal argument. I’m warning you Matt, you dare hurt Vegas, and I’m gonna hurt you, so bad that you will regret you were born, that you ever knew her words like that hit Matthew straight into the heart, he didn’t think he was hurting Vegas but by the looks of it, he was in some way or another, James was her best friend and if he was threatening him then that must mean something was going on in little Vega’s head. Your still a jerk aren’t you, though everything is going good for you … you somehow like always seem to fuck it all up as James walked away he spoke once more Waste of space in some ways that was true as well, at the moment he did not deserve a place here, acting like such a dick and just not being himself was not helping anyone around him, he knew that James was looking out for Vegas and Aimee, but Matthew should be doing it, and not James.
Vegas may come across as a strong person, but Matthew knew that she was sensitive underneath that barrier as he had been there, and he understood what hurt her and he knew that he had to make it up to her if he ever hurt her, and he thought while walking home, how much of a dick he had been to her, I mean he was not even a husband to her anymore, just a shadow in the background, in and out of the door whenever she spoke. Even if they did get to speak to each other it ended with shouting and him leaving again to drown his sorrows with alcohol and fighting. Matthew didn’t open up to people, he knew let them know what was going on with him, he had been alone for so long that to him the only person he can trust is himself, and that was coming back now, he was willing when he wanted to marry Vegas that he was going to open up to her, but he knew did. It did help that whenever there was fuss or drama they hid it with hot sex and just acted like nothing happened, but this time sex and a fantasy could not take away the pain stabbing him in the heart.
Matthew was happy though that Vegas had not left him alone in the apartment, he thought that maybe by now she may have buggered off to Ryan’s, James’s or Macy’s to cool down and so forth, but no she stuck round and he was happy she did, he loved still smelling her perfume around the apartment and her morning hair and still everything about her made him go crazy in love for her, but at the moment he was just unable to express it. As he entered the apartment he went straight to the fridge and didn’t really look at Vegas, and see that she looked a little tired and should have been in bed a long time ago, and it was getting to 8am in the morning and she shouldn’t be awake, if she had not bee asleep all night, he wondered if she had had been waiting for him to come home. As he drank the water he looked over at her hearing her speak, raising an eyebrow and looked at her hearing the sadness, seeing the pain in her eyes before he sighed and turned away from her and drank some more water. Letting his head look at the floor he finally spoke, in more of a whisper than anything. You know I couldn’t do that he said before putting the water on the dining room table and took off his top and left him with his bare chest showing.
There were cuts and bruises from fighting lately all over his chest and lower stomach before he walked past her again and put the top into the washing basket. Before he stretched himself out and then walked back into the living room to were Vegas was and looked at her again/ I spent the night at Scarlett’s he knew that Vegas would have something to say about that, Scarlett and Vegas never got along, maybe because both of them wanted Matthew and Scarlett was jealous because Vegas got him in the end. He didn’t speak to her face but like he was speaking to the floor, a croak in his voice from being so tired and hung over from the mass of beer he consumed last night with Scarlett. When he took the water again he turned to Vegas again And before you ask, we didn’t do anything, just talked like people do ok? he spoke knowing that even though he said he hadn’t been cheating on her, that maybe she thought something else could have happened so he cleared the air before she got chance to ask.
Rumors had always been something that Vegas didn't have too much patience for, whether they be about her, her friends, or just complete strangers that she had never even heard of. Most of the time, gossip was just fake and not even true, and it sounded even more idiotic when the stories were so far-fetched that it was all just too obvious that it wasn't true. The problems that were going on between Vegas and Matthew were the new topic for all the gossip freaks, saying dumb stuff to why they weren't getting along and such. The rumors that Vegas had heard so far was because Matthew had been forcing her into some sort of gang bang with other girls and himself, Vegas was deciding to go celibate so Matt was just getting pissed off that she didn't want to have sex anymore, she cheated on him with James so it was the reason for how grumpy he had been towards her and his brother lately, and probably the dumbest one she's heard yet was how her parents were supposedly paying Matthew to be mean to her so she would divorce him since it was what her family had wanted. Vegas couldn't even really see how anyone would ever think any of that was true since all of the things they came up with sounded so stupid that sometimes it just made her want to laugh.
Vegas just wanted to turn around and scream out in the middle of the hallway for everybody to shut up and that her and Matthew would be fine, and even if they weren't, then it wasn't any of their business anyways. She could put a stop to the rumors and give an explanation for each one on how it couldn't be true at all. For example, Vegas was one hundred percent straight and would never even think about having sex when other girls were involved and she definitely wouldn't think about it if it had to do with Matthew being there at the same time as well, Vegas loved having sex with Matt so the longest she could go celibate would probably be just until he got home like it usually was if both of them were up for it, she would never cheat on Matthew especially with his brother who also happened to be her bestest friend, and her family might not have wanted her to get married to Matthew but they were more the type who just wouldn't have anything to do with the couple other than butt their noses into it and try to give Matthew an incredible ammount of money just so he will emotionally hurt their daughter into wanting to break-up with him.
There was the one rumor though that sort of hit the nail right on the head, which was that something weird was going on with Matthew so now he was being mean to everyone including his wife and that was why they weren't acting like they even remotely enjoyed each other's presence. Whenever her friends asked her what was wrong with Matthew, she'd feel like an idiot since she would have to tell them that she didn't know and they would say stuff like how she was his wife so she should be closer to him than anyone else and know stuff like this. Vegas was obviously trying to get inside of Matthew's head so she could understand what he was going through, but was on the verge of just giving-up since he wasn't letting her in at all. Before all of this, they hardly ever fought in the first place, maybe a small arguement that lasted for 3 minutes at the most, but then they would be completely over it. If it was anymore serious than that, then it was just as simple to solve since all they had to do was have sex and the problems were just washed away. Vegas wasn't going to try seduction since what she just wanted right now was to at least be able to talk to her husband and that was what she missed a whole lot, sitting down with him and talking for hours about random stuff. The conversations always meant something at least, that they were close to one another and listened. Hey, if sex could solve something like this, then he probably wouldn't even make it through the front door before Vegas fucked his brains out, but it wouldn't so there had to be some type of other way to get him to want to talk.
She rested her hand on the back of her head, saying quietly underneath her breath "I thought I knew that, but I don't know what to think anymore." Vegas would have liked to believe that Matthew wasn't fooling around with any other girls and that the closest he has come to pleasure in the past two weeks is just from whatever he can get from his hand since it wasn't like him and Vegas had been doing anything, but just by the way he was acting, it made it harder and harder for her to trust him since she couldn't tell if he was actually telling the truth or just saying it because he thought that was what she wanted to hear. Her face turned into one of concern when she saw how beat up his chest and stomach looked, trying to hide it though since now whenever she did act like she wanted to help him or cared about him, it was just shoved back into her face. Vegas hoped that it wasn't James who had done that to him because the last time she talked with her best friend, she tried not to talk too much about the problems she was having with Matthew but they sort of just spilled out how she felt about it all once he got her talking, and he said something like how he was going to kick the shit out of Matthew if he hurt her. Vegas had practically pleaded him though to not hurt Matthew because whenever she saw him looking like he had just gotten into a fight, it hurt her as well from having to know that he was in danger at some point and someone had physically put harm onto him. She might not like him much right now, but she still loved him and cared about him when stuff like that happened.
Her eyebrows furrowed when he said that he had spent the night at Scarlett's, that anger that was there whenever they argued starting to come over her sadness now. Knowing that she had stayed up all night worrying that Matthew was lying in a ditch somewhere from dying over alcohol overdose when he was really just over at that girl's house did hurt but she didn't want to show it. "Well what am I supposed to think, Matthew? You don't talk to me anymore, I have to clean up beer cans practically every night now, you look like someone tried to beat you with a stick, you come in at ridiculous hours, and you smell like a cheap prostitute, so am I supposed to just assume that everything is fine with you and that you're not running off doing dumb shit behind my back?" She tried to keep her voice where it was sounding angry although it had started to lighten up a bit when she was attempting to keep herself from crying, the thought of him being out with Scarlett mostly causing that. "Seriously, just why the hell would you run off to her when it's me that you're supposed to come to? I'm the one who actually cares about you and wants to be there for you but you won't fucking let me."

Mr. Matthew Freeman 'there is no one else, that can understand what happens in my heart'
Last night Matthew was not himself, at the beginning of the night he left the apartment, didn’t even know if Vegas heard him leave or not, and made his way to a well known pub for a good drinking session. It wasn’t a well known pub and it was a bit away from the main city, so that they didn’t really know him that good, flashing and ID every so often was good enough to get him a large amount of alcohol. He drunk it all of course and spent a lot of money in the process. Unknown to the fact that he had been followed by Scarlett, and she had been in the corner watching him for a good ten minutes or so, drinking his sorrows away she came over and they just chatted. Nothing big or small, just a normal chat about random things, but nothing on how he was or what happened to the old Matt or anything that could spark off that angry fire inside of him. Some other guys of course wanted to get closer to Scarlett and at first Matthew just carried on drinking.
But then when he saw that she was not enjoying the company she was having, he made himself known and went over and told them to get the fuck off of her, of course they didn’t take any of it, and the bartender threw all of them out as there was a lot of shouting and threatening in their voices. Outside Matthew took no time in taking one of the guys down with a smack to the jaw. The other two guys hit him from left and right, until he was unable to fight back and lay on the floor, of course they used a crow bar and some other object’s including bottles to keep him from getting back up. Luckily Scarlett didn’t see any of this and when she did come out he was still there on the floor, bleeding from most areas. She of course helped him up and said that she would take him home and clear up his cuts, he didn’t talk for the whole ride and just kept that emotionless face upon his face, acting like there was nothing wrong with him and that he was ok, and he was really thinking how much those guys were gonna pay if they ever saw him again.
When they got back to Scarlett’s place he more like stumbled through the door and fell on the floor before she picked him up and lay him on the couch, before helping him take his tee- shirt off and got warm water and a towel and began cleaning his cuts and removing glass from his skin. He just sat there like most times, the only time he spoke was to ask if she had any beer in the house, and she unfortunately didn’t. He just winced every once in a while when she removed more glass from his skin. Then when that was all done she gave him another shirt for the night and put his in the wash, that explaining the female smell when he returned home in the morning. They chatted a little while longer while sitting on the couch, until she went to kiss him, their lips only touching for a second he moved away and said that he couldn’t of course because of Vegas, she accepted that and went upstairs to bed. Then he drifted off to sleep on her couch for the night.
As he removed his clean tee shirt he winced a little still feeling some of the pain running through him, well Scarlett was not a surgeon and some glass may still be present in his skin, which would not be good, but when he has a good day he might go and see the doctor to see if anything was wrong. He knew that when she saw him like this it hurt her too, but this was not all his fault this time, if those guys left Scarlett alone when she asked and so forth then he would have not made the mistake, thinking he could take on three guys at once and not get hurt, of course looking at his chest and body now, that was completely wrong. He knew that he it may have been stupid to kind of take his top off in front of her while he knew that she would not like what she saw on his chest and so forth, but he did it anyway, the arrogant, cocky and selfish Matthew coming back within him, which was never good.
As he walked back into the kitchen/living room and took his water again and took a swig he listened to her, and watched her facial expression change, his back leaning against the counter and acting like nothing was wrong, though pain was surging through his back, as he allowed his cuts and bruises to press against the cold counter surface. Listening, he plainly just looked at her, no movements no change in stance he just listened and looked at her before taking another swig of his water, one simple movements the whole time she was speaking. When she stopped for a minute he looked at her, and was pissed off at the stuff she said, trying to contain it, a angry look within his eyes before she carried on before hearing the rest and threw the closed water bottle to the side, hearing it crash into the door before he pushed himself from the counter, muscles tensed all over him. I don’t talk because there is nothing to say! Sorry that I like a good drink, and a quick fight. I smell like a cheap prozzie because she washed my shirt while I like passed out on her couch. he moved closer to her before he looked at her and continued speaking.
What is your problem with Scarlett, I didn’t go out with the fucking intention to meet with her, SHE WAS JUST THERE!, we chatted I got into a fight she took me back to hers and I passed out! WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT ME TO SAY VEGAS?! shouting to her face he felt the anger get to a point before he turned and punched the counter before he stopped for a moment, everything quiet he took deep and large breathes before he turned round to her and leaned back on the counter again trying to clam himself. He pushed himself once more from the counter and walked past her speaking all the way We are eighteen years old, I don’t even know how to look after myself, let allow have a wife to protect as well! We are eighteen years old and we shouldn’t have moved so fucking fast! he looked at her before he moved into the bedroom, removing his pants and placing another pair on and another tee shirt he moved back into the living room. I love you Vegas! And you know that! But we are not ready for this … we made a mistake! he shouted as the anger begun to build in him again. I’m sorry
Vegas didn't neccasarily wait up all night just for Matthew to come home, she just stayed up all night because she hadn't been getting too much sleep lately in the first place. She hasn't been getting much sleep even before her and Matthew started to fight with each other due to schoolwork, but whenever she did go to sleep, it would be in Matthew's arms and it would be a peaceful sleep. Now, if she did manage to get any sleep, it only lasted for an hour or two, and she practically had nightmares that would make her want to stay awake. Even in her dreams she couldn't picture herself with Matthew anymore, both of them being happy again and forgetting about the last two weeks. She felt heart broken whenever she walked down the hallways at school and saw other couples, looking so in love with each other like they didn't have any problems whatsoever. Vegas had never thought that love could really hurt so damn much, she had always thought it was just an emotion and someone could easily get over it if they wanted to. When she was with Matthew when they had been dating after a bit, she felt so happy and wasn't sure if it was love just yet, but now she knew that she has always loved him, even when she used to try to avoid him and act like she didn't, or it wouldn't be hurting as much as it did.
The eighteen year old also had been pretty sick lately, something that she doubted Matthew even knew since they hadn't been around each other at all for the past two weeks. A strange thought that all of the fighting they were having had been causing her to feel like this and grow ill, but she didn't really think that could be it. Basically, her stomach would feel like knives were digging into it most days, her lower back had the worst cramps she has ever experienced, she got pretty bad migranes, and she threw up just about every morning, most of her time switching back and forth from the couch to kneeling infront of the toilet. She had to miss a few days of school because of it, and didn't really return anyone's calls whenever her friends sent her text messages and stuff, asking where she had been and if she was okay. Vegas had been feeling like she was dying and took just about every type of medicine they had there at the apartment, none of it helping her illness at all, whatever it may be.
Vegas eventually just decided to go to the doctor because it wasn't like she was going to figure out on her own what was wrong, and it didn't feel like it was just going to fade away anytime soon either since it had been going on like this for a week now. Vegas couldn't stand visiting the doctor's office, it always creeped her out being around sick people and needles frightened her. Once it was her turn though to see the doctor, she told him all what was wrong with her and how she had been feeling, they took a few tests, and it felt like she had waited in that room for hours until he eventually came back in. She was happy when he said that they knew why she was feeling like that because it gave her a spark of hope that they would have a way to make her feel better, but her happiness died quickly from what the doctor had told her next. "Congratulations, Mrs. Freeman. You're expecting a child." Vegas didn't even say anything when he had told her that. All she did was lean over and quickly vomit into the trash can in the office.
Pregnant? Vegas wanted the doctor to start laughing and tell her that he was just pulling her string, that she really just had the flu and all she needed was a certain type of prescribed medicine and some rest, and then she would be fine. He wasn't joking though, and told her a good three times that she was in fact pregnant with Matthew's child. When Vegas thought about it, all of her symptoms did point towards the ones that pregnancy caused as well. She never thought that she would be getting pregnant at eighteen though, but then again, she didn't think she'd be getting married at eighteen either. Marriage was completely different from parenthood, though. She had thought about having kids with Matthew, but much later on, maybe when they were through with college and in their mid-twenties at least, not when they were still in their senior year of high school. Now with all the distance and fighting that's been going on between them, how could she possibly bring herself to tell him?
Her shoulders bounced a little bit when she heard and saw him throw the water bottle at the door and get closer to her as he started yelling, not really thinking that he was going to hit her or anything like that but Matthew could probably kill Vegas with just two good punches since he was much stronger and bigger than her, and he was obviously pissed off right now so she wasn't really thinking that it was an impossible option. "How the hell do you have NOTHING to say?! You haven't said hardly anything in two weeks so you should have a whole lot to say by now!" she yelled back at him, not really able to contain her anger towards him either. "You honestly think that I'm not going to have a problem with a girl who is trying to take my husband away from me? Whenever I have problems with you, you don't see me sleeping over at other guys' houses doing God knows what while you stay at home worrying if I'm alright or not!" Vegas was a pretty nice girl the majority of the time and didn't dislike you unless you gave her reason to, and Scarlett gave her enough reason to since she thought that her and Matthew were supposed to be together. If those two were destined, then he wouldn't have proposed to Vegas, and she's told Scarlett that before. She can like the guy all she wants, but Vegas just doesn't want her touching on him or doing anything to him that only Vegas is supposed to do. If they weren't going to be faithful to one another, then what was even the point of getting married? Some people think that it's okay to fool around with other people when you're just dating because you can walk away from the relationship whenever you want, but marriage was about as serious as a relationship could even get and in that, you don't mess around with other people even if you're dying to.
His words hit her like bullets, not wanting to listen to what he had to say to her but couldn't block him out anymore. She kept her head down where she was staring at her lap as she listened to him, not really able to contain the sadness anymore either. Vegas picked her head back up once he was finished, small tears sliding down the sides of her face as she said to him "No, I don't know that you love me because if you did, then you wouldn't be treating me like this and wouldn't be giving up on us. I was just fine with dating you but YOU were the one who proposed to me and said that you wanted to love me forever, so don't say that we moved too fast when it was all your idea." She breathed in deeply and wiped away the wetness that had built up underneath her eyes from her crying, saying in a heart-broken tone and not an angry one anymore "I was willing to give up everything for you, Matthew. I practically abandoned my family JUST to be with you because I loved you so damn much and I thought that was all I ever needed." Vegas slowly stood up from the couch and walked around it to where Matthew was, standing a couple of feet away from him while saying "I hate telling you like this but I'm pregnant, okay? I've wanted to tell you for a week now because I thought that maybe whatever the hell it is that's wrong with you would just blow over and you'd finally listen to me but it's obvious that you can't even give me that anymore." Her tear-stained eyes moved down towards her hand, blinking at the wedding ring that sat snuggly around her finger. Their relationship might have been on the rocks lately but she still wore the ring because she loved him and was still her wife, but didn't see much of a point in it right now. She pulled the wedding ring off and looked back at Matthew, saying "The only mistake that's been made around here was me ever agreeing to be your wife." She then threw the ring pretty hard at Matthew, turning on her heel and storming off to their bedroom where she slammed the door behind her, doing it so hard though that a picture on the wall in their bedroom fell onto the floor, Vegas not really caring though right now. She wanted to run back out into the living room, put on her ring, and tell her that she didn't mean any of it because she really didn't, but instead she just crawled up onto their bed and rested her head on her pillow that she hadn't slept on in a while, crying into it.

Mr. Matthew Freeman 'there is no one else, that can understand what happens in my heart'
Matthew did click on that Vegas had been staying up late now, but he knew also that she didn’t sleep that well either, normally only when she was in his arms, and of course that had not happen lately, he missed it, of course he did. He missed smelling her sweet fragrance when he drifted off to sleep, he missed the way her hand would rest on his chest and gently brushed his skin as they slept. He could spend all night just lying there with her, listening to her breathing and sleeping softly, he was a lucky guy to have such a girl like her, but he never showed it anymore, he was always trying to do the opposite thing, instead of mending things he went out to break them, though he did not mean it, his past, anger, his ego and arrogance came back and made him a bad man, a bad husband a bad person in general. A guy he never wanted to be, like his father, he promised never to be like him, and there he was doing the things he promised never to do again, and this time he had no one else to blame, because it was all his fault. He did really a little pissed off and broken when he walked down the hallway just to see normal teenagers in love, when he knew he had a heart broken wife and he was a fucked up guy, it was not the best and the thing that got him most, was that only two weeks ago this couple was fine and loving life, now they were dragging through each day, like it was a nightmare.
As he took his anger out of the water bottle against the door, he looked at Vegas seeing her shoulders bounce as the water bottle connected with the door, and there was a loud thud heard. He didn’t want to come across as scary, and looking like the bad guy but he knew that he would never touch her, he couldn’t touch her, he loved her too much to even think about it. As he stood behind the couch and looked at Vegas who was leaning over the spine of the couch and as they began their well known shouting match that had been going for two weeks now. NO! I have nothing to say! What can I say?! I fucked up Vegas … I fucked up everything, with Aimee, with you, with everything and there is nothing to say or do to make it all go away now! he shouted back at her before she brought Scarlett into the conversation again. Nooo! So James’s ain’t a guy now, you can go running to him whenever you wish! But when Scarlett was looking out for me! You go mental!! He hated the fact that the two ladies could not get along, Vegas was his wife and Scarlett was a good friend to him, and he couldn’t help but hate the fact they hated each other, he knew Scarlett like her and he had no intention on getting with her, not now why would he ask Vegas to marry him if he wanted Scarlett, I know he is failing math’s but he ain’t that dumb.
As he shouted at her, about being too young and going to fast with this, he couldn’t see her face as she buried it into her chest and he carried on like nothing was wrong. As she picked her head back up, he could see the tears flowing down her slender cheeks and his expression changed in seconds, a sorry look in his eyes as the tears flowed down her face before he listened to her. He stood back when she stood from the couch, watching her come in front of him. He looked up at her before hearing that she was pregnant, stepping back again a wide eyed expression on his face; he looked at the floor for a moment. Could she be telling the truth, was she pregnant with his child? How could this be they had been so careful most of the time, I now saying most of the time was not good but they were on control and everything, I guess that 0.1% kicked their ass now didn’t it? As he looked back up he saw her looking at her wedding ring before he looked at her, no he didn’t mean it, and he didn’t want her to take it this way. This was all going wrong for him, he didn’t want it to end with her, he wanted her forever, he was just angry.
As he watched her slide the ring off her slender finger he looked down at her before hearing her. No this could not be happening now, she was pregnant and their relationship seemed to be over. As the ring hit him hard in the chest he closed his eyes and tucked his head into his chest, hearing the door slam after Vegas before he opened his eyes and looked at the ring by his feet. What had he done now? What a stupid fool he was! He bent down and picked up the ring, standing up straight he walked to the door, like always he was ready to leave, just let her cool down, maybe she would come back to him, that was what most girls did when he fought with her. Standing at the door he looked at the knob and just stood there for a bit. Thinking weather he should leave or go see if she was ok. Looking at the ring in his hand he sighed and closed his eyes, pressing his forehead on the door and thought to himself, he was not going to be his father and walk away from the best thing that ever happened to him.
Turning round he clutching onto the ring, covering it within his palm and walked towards the bedroom door, taking his time he opened the door and walked in slowly. Seeing Vegas laying on the bed, cuddled up with the pillow before he moved closer to her. Vegas … I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean it, I’m just … so fucked up at the moment, this is nothing to do with you, but with me. I wish I could tell you but it hurts to think about it, let alone tell someone about it. I don’t regret a day being with you, you made me the man I was, and I want to be that man again Vegas, I know I have hurt you, and I have done you wrong, but please, give me a second chance … I love you so much, and even if you tell me to go, my heart will still be here with you, because it seems worthless without you there He spoke before he stood at the bed side, nearest the door and awaited her answer.
Vegas still couldn't figure out what it was that had caused all of this. She was nearly positive that whatever it had been, it wasn't her fault because she didn't do anything to Matthew two weeks back just before the first basketball game of the season to make him act like this. She did notice that he had been acting not really like himself when it was time for the game, but she just thought that maybe he was nervous or something like that and would be fine after the game once they won like he always was. He had gone kind of nuts though at the game and punched a guy, and once they had gotten back to their apartment after the game, that was when they had their first really bad arguement, probably the worst one that they had since they had gotten married and possibly even since they had first started dating a while back, any other arguements that they had usually being small and pointless. Later on that night after the arguement, Vegas did go into the bedroom where Matthew was and tried to apologize for yelling at him and comfort him about what had happened that night at the game, not being sexual at all towards him just being sweet. She just curled up behind him and wrapped her arms around his torso, and he hadn't pushed her away or anything like that when she told him that she was sorry and wanted to know what was bugging him. It seemed like everything was fine at first and that whatever it was that had been bothering him that night to cause him to start yelling at her could be solved right there, then they would just go to sleep and in the morning things would be back to normal. Within ten minutes of that though, another arguement had erupted and it ended with them not speaking to each other until the next day at school where they had to, now leading up to two weeks later where it was just hell between them.
She had given up though on trying to comfort him and make things right with them because whenever she did, he didn't accept it and it caused even more tension so she just figured that if she ignored him all together, that was the best for them. To Vegas, it was embarrassing to have to go to school and it be obvious that her and Matthew you weren't getting along well. They didn't have to be yelling at each other in the middle of the hallways for everybody to see that there were problems because it was obvious enough just from them never hanging-out. Normally when you're married, you spend most of your time with that person, and one of them were always hanging-out at school and outside of it. Whether it be Vegas waiting for Matthew outside of his class or him waiting for her, they just did everything together. Sat with each other at lunch, walked to practice together, sat next to one another in classes that they had together, hung-out with the same people, etc. She felt like she had lost a best friend not having him around, let alone a husband. He didn't even have to act like he loved her anymore since she already doubted that he did, all he had to do was at least acknowledge her and be less mean. You would think she'd demand him to be fully nice, but she would put up with some of his rude ways at this point just to get him officially back in her life. Yeah, she missed it a lot when he used to be the sweetest guy she ever met and was fine with saying a rude thing or two to anyone else out there as long as it wasn't her, but she didn't know what to think of him anymore.
The fact that she didn't like Scarlett did suck pretty much. Vegas liked to get along with everybody and actually did. If you asked anyone about Vegas, they would tell you that she's really nice and most likely a friend of yours. If Scarlett liked any other guy, then the two girls would probably get along just fine because then Vegas would have no reason at all to dislike her. She did have a reason though so there was no point in telling her to be nice to Scarlett and try to become friends with her when she had every right to want to kick her face in everytime she saw her. Vegas didn't jump all over Matthew whenever he got mad at her guy friends for doing just small stuff like touching her back to get her into a classroom whenever one of their classes was about to start, picking her up over their shoulders and carrying her around playful, hugging her, etc. She didn't get mad at him for it because she knew that if he did have any jealousy issues, that he was at least thinking about her and making it clear that she was with him and nobody else. Vegas was the same way with girls who tried to mess around with Matthew, she was just more upfront about it with Scarlett. She was sure that Scarlett was deep down a good person and didn't mean any real harm by her actions, but just because you hook-up with a guy a few times, it doesn't mean that you have to fall head over heels in love with him. There were tons of other single, good-looking guys at their school who she could be with, guys that would actually love her back and could be with her. Matthew had already chosen who he wanted though and Vegas was going to be damned if she put her heart out on the line just for some girl who couldn't keep her legs shut to ruin it.
As she lay there on the bed, she wasn't even crying anymore. Tears still continued to come out of her light eyes and slid down her skin to the pillow, but she wasn't sobbing like before. She just laid there silently, staring off at the wall across from the bed in sort of a daze. Vegas was mainly just thinking about stuff right now that disconnected her from the reality and was now more in her own world, having flashbacks of stuff and then imagining what would be happening later on in the future. She could remember sneaking up behind Matthew in the mornings whenever he was in the kitchen or living room, hugging him from behind and giving him a quick kiss on the back of his neck and then going off to go get ready for school. Memories of both of them cracking up over dumb stuff that they did around school and whenever they were by themselves at the apartment, like making their message for their answering machine together and how silly it had sounded. Vegas lightly placed her hand over her stomach for a few moments, her thoughts changing to how she was pregnant. She didn't want to believe it when she first heard the news, but the last time she had sex with Matthew, they hadn't used a condom so it wasn't impossible. She wasn't even thinking about a condom though that day, it was just early in the morning and all she was thinking about was being with her husband. Vegas was on birth control anyways so either way this shouldn't have happened, but the doctors did tell her before that she needed to understand that the pill still had it's consequences and there was a chance she could still get pregnant, the only way for her to never get pregnant was just not to have sex at all.
Vegas came out of her deep thoughts though once she heard the door opening, knowing it was Matthew but not thinking it would be. She really wasn't expecting him to come in and try to talk with her, she was thinking that he was just going to grab some of his stuff and leave again for Scarlett's or something like that. Vegas nearly jumped up and told him that she didn't mean any of it, that she wanted to still be with him and loved him more than anyone else ever could, but was able to not do that once he started talking instead, Vegas not looking at him while he spoke but still at the wall across the bed. Her eyes went down towards her ring finger while he spoke, her thumb lightly rubbing over the bare skin where the ring had once been. Vegas felt almost naked without it on, she was so used to it always being there and now without it she felt even more empty. She wasn't sure what she felt though when he talked, some of it happiness but hardly even that since she hadn't felt happy in over two weeks now so she doubted that feeling would come back that fast. Vegas wiped the corners of her eyes and sat up on the bed with the pillow still in her arms, not looking at Matthew but either at his hands or just past him. "I don't care anymore what it was that made you like this. If you don't want to talk to me about it, then fine, don't. I'm tired of you acting like a prick over whatever it is that's bothering you, and I obviously can't help." Her voice was a little cold and shaky from trying to stop anymore tears, although she knew that she could probably cry for hours without getting tired at this point. She looked back up at him finally though, her face no longer showing anger but just innocence and sorrow. Her voice sounded like she was crying although her tears stayed put this time, saying to him "I really miss you, though. I didn't mean what I said, I just didn't know what to do anymore. I wanted to marry you and it wasn't a mistake at all, and I still do want to be married to you. I'm so sorry for walking away like that and acting like you meant nothing to me because you really do." Vegas moved her head down where it was facing the floor, wincing a little bit at a sharp pain that went through her stomach just as she had finished what she was saying to Matthew, resting her forehead in her palm after a few seconds and saying quietly "I'm so in love with you and I mean it everytime I say it."

Mr. Matthew Freeman 'there is no one else, that can understand what happens in my heart'
Matthew was still in that pissed off stage when he found out about his step father abusing his little sister, Matthew is a big family person and he always wanted to do the right thing in life, by his family he shall always protect them and love them, but that hit him like a ton of bricks, he couldn’t help her or save her from that evil called their step father, because Matthew was too drunk and out of it to even hear the shuffle of the bed or the whimper every so often, it was Matthew’s fault why his little sister got hurt, and he has to live with that now, always in his heart feeling the pain of betraying his little sister, and allowing that monster touch her. Ever since he was thrown off the court for punching some lad of the other team, Vegas and Matthew had not stopped arguing, when it got on the subject of anything to do with Matt, or them or anything really. Matthew had tried to forget about it, but when she kept asking him about it, and cuddling him he could just see his step father and Aimee, and the anger was uncontrollable and he would just lose it, like completely lose it.
Matthew hated it when he had to walk round school and act like nothing was wrong when everyone else, could see there was a massive block between Vegas and Matthew. Vegas had given up on trying to comfort him and after a while so did everyone else, I think people hated the fact when they tried to help he pushed them away, even James tried talking to him and it ended up with one of them threatening to hit the other, but James was clever enough to know that hurting Matthew would hurt her, so he didn’t touch him and just left him to do whatever he wanted, James couldn’t do much more, without hurting Vegas at the same time. He missed walking down the hallways holding her hand, or making out on the fields in front of most, or just messing round and play fighting on the floor just being young but so in love at the same time. It felt like his best friend had just left him, and now he was an empty shell, just unable to look away from it all and get back on track, he wanted to go after his step father and hurt him, he even thought about buying a gun to kill him, for even thinking of touching his little sister. But he couldn’t do it, he knew that he couldn’t as much as he hated the man, he could not let Aimee or Vegas suffer with him being on the run from the police.
Matthew had been a jerk lately and now he had lost the one person that he didn’t want to hurt, he wanted to hurt Aimee in some ways, his step father in others and basically had a problem with half of the world, but not Vegas, and she seemed to be the one getting hurt the most, seeing him going through all of this. Matthew was just such a asshole some of the times to her, I mean he didn’t mean it, but he was not the guy that tried to whoo her from a couple of months before she ever noticed him, and now he was about to throw it all away because he was pissed off at some stuff that happened in the past, and his sister should have told him before now. As he stood there, eyes fixed to the floor looking at Vegas’s wedding ring before he thought about the times he would hug her for no reason in the middle of the school and pick her up, spinning her round, just laughing and having fun with everything they had going for them. Knowing now that she was pregnant, made such young lives so much more complicated, they were only eighteen and already married and expecting a child, which was in some ways to some people good, and to other very extremely bad, which was bad in most cases. He knew that one morning he had not worn a condom, but it was early in the morning and neither of them thought about it, as well that Vegas was on birth control, Matthew hoping that was good enough to keep a baby from popping up, of course he was proven wrong.
As he had moved from his thoughts in the living room he opened the bedroom door, stepping in he looked at Vegas and sighed gently, seeing in her eyes and body language how much he had hurt her, how much he didn’t really deserve a girl like her. As he begun to talk and explain that he was sorry he couldn’t get eye contact with her because she was staring at the wall, and he was just standing there looking like a fool almost. He followed her eyes as she looked at her ring, before he placed himself on the edge of the bed and opened his hand on his lap and looked down at the ring, seeing his ring as well he sighed and looked at her. He watched her sit up and but still did not look at him, which made him feel so small because she couldn’t look at him, she was pretty much ashamed of him, and so would most people and she had done a lot for him over the two years they have been together. As she spoke he looked at her though she was not looking back at him but still he watched her, nodding at what she said. When she actually looked at him, her eyes felt like they were tearing through him because he could feel the pain that she was enduring just seeing him this way. As she spoke again he looked at her and listened with all his might until she finished.
Taking his eyes to the floor he sighed and looked back at her, You have nothing to be sorry for Vegas lifting his eyes from the ring and where he was staring at he looked at herm taking the ring and taking her hand, and slipped on the ring. I know I’ve been a jerk, you could have walked away ages ago, but you stuck by me, and I thank you for that, and I promise you Vegas I’ll become the man you loved before, I promise you He looked at her, slipping the ring back onto her finger before he allowed one hand to move to her face and rub the tears from her cheeks, before she rested her head on her palm and he looked at her. He scooted closer to her and wrapped a arm around her shoulder and held her close to his stomach, chin on the top of her head before he placed a kiss, on the top of her skull and sighed onto her skin. I love you Vegas James, always and forever he recited from their wedding before he closed his eyes and held her close to him, remembering that feeling of her, he thought he forgot the feeling of love, but I guess that was a lie.
Vegas was almost surprised in herself that she had stayed as long as she did. He was never around anymore, and when he was, it wasn't like they really talked with each other, so all there was for Vegas to do around the apartment now was just watch television or do her homework, seeing as that sleep wasn't much of an option for her either because it had been difficult getting some for the past week. She did leave once just to visit her family, her parents living around an hour outside of NY. You would think that she would leave to go see someone like James, but I guess you could say she was just sort of trying to avoid the Freeman family all together for now, despite how she was technically apart of it. She wanted to be around her real family though, she hadn't seen either of her parents in a really long time, and they hadn't talked much since she got married to Matthew. Vegas was aware that the last talk they had wasn't a nice one since she was basically telling them that she was fine with leaving the family because all she needed now was Matthew, and the only person nowadays that she was absolutely fine with having issues with was Scarlett, so she did feel guilty a lot for doing that to her parents and wanted to make things a bit smoother between the three of them. Vegas just figured that now would be a good time since she was having problems with marriage and didn't know how to get through to Matthew, and her parents had been married for a while now without ever talking about divorce, so she guessed that she would just kill two birds with one stone by getting some advice and making things right with them at the same time.
When Vegas arrived to the house though, her parents weren't there. Instead, she got her older cousin, Victoria. Tori was almost convinced that she wasn't Vegas' cousin but was her big sister, but not the big sister that was sweet and looked out for her younger siblings. No, Tori was more like the big sister that got you into trouble on purpose, didn't give much of a care for you, made you feel smaller than her and put you down constantly, and just thought that she was better than you in general. Vegas had never liked Victoria much and had tried to be nice to her on many occasions, even when Tori would be pretty bitchy to her just because she could. Vegas tried telling her twenty-one year old cousin that she would just come back again at a different time when her parents were home, but Victoria insisted that Vegas stay for a little bit since they hadn't talked in ages and she wanted to catch up on stuff. Vegas didn't really believe that, but being the nice person that she was, she just agreed to it anyways and went inside the house. Right when they both sat down on the couch though, Tori didn't hesitate to start bombarding her with questions. "So, I heard you got married to some guy your parents hate. Let me see the ring." Vegas didn't really have much time though to answer back since Victoria just reached over and grabbed her hand, pulling it closer to her face as her dark green eyes stared at the wedding and engagement ring on Vegas' finger. Some people just wore the wedding ring, some people wore both the wedding and engagement ring, and Vegas was one of those girls that did that. "Wow, not bad. So, where's your hubby at?" Normally, Vegas probably wouldn't even have to answer that question since chances were she'd already be with Matthew, but instead she just had to shrug and say flatly "I don't know."
Not much to Vegas' surprise, that simple sentence she said to Victoria got her cousin ten times more interested in talking about Vegas' marriage life, or lack there of at the moment. They talked for a few more minutes, Tori asking things like "Why don't you know? Aren't husbands and wives supposed to know, like, everything about each other? Are you guys fighting right now? Is it you that's making things difficult or him? Do you think maybe he's cheating on you? Why would you stay with someone like that? Are you thinking about getting a divorce? You really should, just drain him of everything he's worth, that'll show him. It's what I would do, anyways. Do you still love him?" Just listening to Victoria going on and on with her nosy questions was giving Vegas a headache, trying to keep up with it all but not really planning on answering them all since it was her business and not Tori's. Victoria was a girl though that wouldn't just accept that you ignored her question, she would continue to ask until you came to reason and answered it. Vegas eventually just answered back but instead of to all her questions it was more like just one, it going something like "Yeah, we're not really doing all that great right now, but it's more of something that I wanted to talk about with my parents." Victoria's eyes lit up as she said to Vegas "Oh, I got it! You should fake a pregnancy. Everybody says those save marriages really well and always work." Vegas already knew that Tori said some pretty ridiculous things and was the last person you should go to for advice, so she wasn't really surprised that she would say something like that to her. "Eh, I'm just gonna go now. I'll see you later, Tori." she said with an eye roll, telling herself that if Victoria did try to say anything else to her as she left the house and attempted to head back to NY, to just ignore it and keep going.
This wasn't a fake pregnancy, though. Vegas didn't know at the time that while Victoria was telling her she should fake a pregnancy to save their marriage, that she really was pregnant and would be finding out a few days later. It was almost like completely horrible luck, Vegas thinking that the last time her and Matthew would ever have sex with each other also being the time that she would get pregnant. With them fighting and Vegas practically just giving up on the marriage and making a gesture that she wanted to leave him, how could a baby possibly fit into the middle of that? Two parents that weren't together really wouldn't make very good parents to begin with, especially when they couldn't just shut up and stop fighting. All she really saw at the time in that poor baby's future was just drunken nights and sounds of angry yells being thrown back and forth in the room, probably being neglected as well and not really taken care of as well as it should. Something that Vegas would never settle for though is and always will be abortion. She thought it was pure evil and just down right wrong to kill an innocent child that didn't even ask to be brought into this world, and who knows, that baby someone kills could have been the person to cure cancer, or solve world hunger and peace. Vegas wouldn't be able to live with herself and was convinced that she would be cursed for eternal damnation if she allowed a doctor to kill the baby just so she wouldn't have to take care of it with her ex-husband, so abortion definitely wasn't an option right now. Maybe adoption at the most, but never abortion.
Who knows though, maybe she wouldn't have to worry about any of that now that Matthew was suddenly being much nicer and gentle towards her. Vegas didn't want to divorce him because when she had married him, she told herself that she did want to be with him forever and she really did, but it wasn't like she could just stay in that relationship if he continued to act that way towards her. She needed a husband, not a waste of rude space. Vegas had already tried hard enough to make things better with them but it kept getting shoved back in her face, so it was sort of all just on Matthew now because Vegas was ready to go ahead and leave if she had to. He had said that them getting married at a young age was a mistake but said that he didn't really mean it, and it was the same with Vegas because she had said that she made a mistake agreeing to be his wife and she didn't really mean it either. She meant it though when she said that she loved him and didn't want to leave him that easily. It was why she had stayed for as long as she had during it all, still hoping that he would come around eventually and they could go back to being how they were. Vegas watched him put the ring back onto her finger, flinching slightly though and almost pulling away when he had let his hand move the tears away from her cheeks but didn't. She was pretty stiff at the moment with him, especially once he had put his arm around her and pulled her into him with his head on top of her's, just keeping her arms firmly by her sides and not really doing much to show affection back to him. It felt like it had been forever since they really touched each other and were sweet like this with their touches, so Vegas wasn't really believing that it was happening at the moment or he was just fooling her by making her think that he was serious and wanted to become that guy she loved again. She eventually did soften up a bit though, sitting there against him for a moment before beginning to remember that feeling of being close to him, her body loosening up more where it wasn't as tense and awkward with his. Vegas eventually removed her arms from her sides and carefully moved them past Matthew's torso to where she laid her hands lightly on his back, resting her head against his chest while breathing quietly. She was still being a little stand off-ish with him, but it wasn't just because she was trying to get some feelings back for him, it was more of because she had seen the injuries beneath his shirt and didn't want to put him in any more pain by holding on too hard.

Mr. Matthew Freeman 'there is no one else, that can understand what happens in my heart'
Matthew didn’t really talk to his family on a daily basis anyway, normally the only family he talked too was Aimee, James and his aunty, but he never talked to his mother or step father of course for obvious reasons. He doesn’t even count them as family anymore; he only thinks that Aimee and James along with his Aunt are his family. Of course Vegas was his family and the biggest part and most important. But he means in the blood related section. But he may say that she is the best and most important part, but as you can see he doesn’t like to show it much, he has never loved this much before and saying ‘I love you’ all the time is a challenge to him, he never really thought that saying I love you to someone could mean so much to them, of course it does, and he tries to use it all the time to Vegas, to let her know that he does love her, and wants to be with her, and this all was not a mistake. Most of the time at the moment Matthew was drinking and that was not fair on Vegas so no wonder he found out she had gone to see her parents for once, I mean she does not really go to her parents much, but I guess with a dickhead of a husband it pushes you to the edge a little bit. I mean he knew that her mother and father would tell her to come back home and just leave Matthew on his own and just file a divorce now to make it all go away.
No body knows how someone will react to the fact they are going to be a father in some months time, at the moment Matthew was fighting for the love of his life and realizing he was also going to be a father can come later on in the day, all he wanted was Vegas back and to know that she loved him again, and hope that she forgave him for all the dumb shit he has been doing lately. He knew that she was not lying to him, most of the fellows he knew had that fake pregnancy thing just so the girl could have them for a little longer than planned, but Vegas would not lie to him in the first place so he was hoping and praying that everything was ok with the baby. He just hoped that this would not ruin his chances at getting into a good college to play basketball for a living, if it did then he would have to think of a plan when it came to that, he could always get tutored by his wife, I guess that was a plus with Vegas other than her being the most amazing girl he had ever met. It was odd to think that she got pregnant from the last time they had sex, because it felt so long ago to Matthew and of course he had been craving some sort of action for ages, even a kiss would satisfy him at this moment in time. But the whole topic of him becoming a dad was clear in his mind, as he sat with her, I mean he was going to become a father, he was not ready for that but he knew Vegas’s thoughts of abortion and he was not putting her through that, I guess it was time for him to get a kick up the ass and grow up and be the man that Vegas deserves.
It was odd how for once in two weeks they just sat there together, didn’t argue or fight or anything just sat there, Matthew’s hand round her shoulders and held her close to him, they weren’t acting like everything was prefect yet, but they were trying and Matthew was actually showing emotions with all this love shit, he was actually holding onto her gently and not pressuring her, or shouting or even talking he was allowing her to calm down, he was being a man, and he was acting like he was in love like he has always been, but he had just never showed it that much. As he sat with her he could think about if they brought a child into this kind of environment, and everything came back to his mind of his step father nad his mother, and the way they would sit in their rooms and try block out the anger bellowing from downstairs. He sighed before he looked down at the floor, it could bring a tear to his eyes before he lay his head on top of hers and began to speak again, allowing her to relax and just feel safe, it must have been killing her, seeing him like this, knowing she was pregnant and not feeling safe anymore, he was so sorry for making her feel that way.
You know I never talk about my family; it is because they were like we have been, but always have been. I had to sit with my sister all night and hold her, so she felt safer from the shouting between my step father and mother downstairs. he sighed before closing his eyes feeling her hand loosen from her sides and hold him gently, it did not hurt him as the scabs were recovering now. he use to hit me, and abuse me and my sister. He sexually abused her and that is what she told me and that is what made me like this. he felt a tear rise in his eye and his voice choke a little before he took a deep breathe and continued. I promised myself I would never let her get hurt and I failed, I failed her and myself, and I promised myself that I would be better than them, and I have not been over the last couple of weeks, and I’m sorry Vegas, I am so sorry for putting you through this, and I don’t want our child to endure what me and my sister had too, I promise that I will be a better man than him, I promise. he spoke his voice getting quieter through out the sentence. He felt her head press against his chest and he took a few deep breathes, he had never told anyone about his family but she needed to know, why his sudden change in character was thanks too, anything that happened back then hurt him so much, and made him go to this person, and he crawled out of the hole when he met Vegas, and he hoped never to go back into that hole again.
A part of Vegas was disappointed that she didn't get to see her parents when she went to their house, and then the other part of her was pretty relieved that they weren't around and all she had to deal with was just Victoria. If you wanted to get technical, they weren't even really her parents. Vegas didn't think anybody knew about her being adopted, and didn't care so much if they did know about it or not, she just cared if anybody knew about her life before she had arrived to America and that was it. It wasn't like it was super important so she never mentioned it or talked about life in London when she was born and up until she turned six, but how it was hurtful for Matthew to talk about his step-father and Aimee, it didn't feel all that great for Vegas to talk about her real mom. The mother that she had now, Kendall James, would probably be the only woman that she could ever consider a real mother since it was all she ever knew. Vegas' real mom never even held her; she just gave birth to her, left her with Vegas' father, and then ditched them both as soon as she made her way out of the hospital. When she had slept with Vegas' father, apparently she wasn't looking to get pregnant although she had been dating him for a bit and living with him at that point. If anything, her dad had helped her out and was being generous by taking her in and giving her some shelter when he had met her, not knowing that all of this would be happening within the next year between them. Vegas was convinced though that the mother she had now was much better, seeing as that she was a woman who could actually be respected and had responsibility to her.
It had always bothered Vegas though of how neither of her adoptive parents approved of Matthew, or any guy she dated for that matter. Her parents were practically bible humpers and very strict however, so she wasn’t all that surprised that they didn’t like anybody who wasn’t borderline perfect. When she was still going through her rough phase, which was mainly her sophomore and junior year of high school, she couldn’t really blame them for not trusting her with any guys she dated since every boyfriend she brought home was either an asshole, druggie, or an asshole who did drugs. You wouldn’t think that a smart and sweet girl like Vegas could ever date someone like that, but they say opposites attract and she could easily prove that with just about any of her ex-boyfriends. She didn’t really have strong feelings for any of them, though. Deep down the main reason to why she was probably going out with guys like that was because she was just trying to piss off her parents and she probably thought that if she acted that way then they would pay attention to her more often and actually talk with her. So what if the talks they had were of them scolding her and figuring out ways to ground her in attempts to make her their perfect daughter again? They were at least spending some time with their daughter, and she liked being with her parents. They might be not be her real parents, but she had been with them longer than her biological ones and had grown to love them as if they were really her’s, and missed them a lot whenever they were away when she was a child. As she grew older though, it just became natural to be away from them and she got where she didn’t miss it as much. If you fast forward to present day, then you would see she rarely even talked with them just over the phone. They had decided to put business before family, and it was what tore them apart.
Vegas some days did want to live with them again like she had for most of her life because whenever they were home, they were nice to her and they all talked like a real family. That would only last for a short period of time though before they had to fly off somewhere else to make more money. Vegas could understand that they were just trying to give her a nice life, but it wasn’t like money was everything to Vegas. The simple things in life satisfied her enough, already. The last boyfriend she had before Matthew was Austin, and she had earned her parents’ trust back because she had been hanging-out with a better crowd then and did promise herself that the next guy she was with would be a good guy and not some jerk off like all the rest. She knew that Matthew’s reputation wasn’t all that great so despite how she did instantly like him in some ways, she was pretty distant with him and admittedly, ignored him sometimes. Nowadays she felt bad about doing that since she did eventually give in to him from getting where she really liked him and managed to deal with what James thought of it at the same time, but never let her parents know about it all. They didn’t like all of her boyfriends to begin with, so why would they suddenly change now? It was pretty easy for Vegas to keep the fact that she had a boyfriend away from her parents since they were always out of town so she could just spend the night at Matthew’s and never have to even worry about talking about it with them because her parents rarely even called to check up on her. She obviously had to tell them though when she was getting married, and like she expected, they hated it. They said she was throwing her life away and growing up too fast, and if they said that about her getting married, then she knew she was going to get a mouthful once they found out she was now pregnant.
The whole pregnancy thing though wasn’t going to be another issue for Vegas. She was going to make sure that things got smoothed out between her and Matthew so they could raise the baby in a more civilized and loving way, not like either of their parents had done with them. Vegas wasn’t going to ignore her child and treat it like it wasn’t important, and she didn’t really think that Matthew would ever be an abusive father or something like that. She was being pretty quiet right now, still trying to just get that feeling back of not yelling at him whenever he said something to her that pissed her off, touching him and it not being a shove to get away from her but a gentle one where she laid against him like she used to, and just being in the same room with him without feeling like total shit. She still didn’t feel her greatest, but she was working towards it, listening to him as he started to talk about what was going on with his family. Vegas could hear his voice starting to choke up a little bit while he spoke about his step father and Aimee, biting her lip with her head still lying against Matthew’s chest as she thought about it all. She kind of just wanted to stand up and start yelling at him, saying that it was ridiculous how something that didn’t even happen to him but to his younger sister was what just about caused them to divorce, and that the reason she’s been having to feel like this for 2 weeks now and deal with him acting like that was because of something Aimee told him. Vegas had been thinking that whatever the hell was going on with him was something incredibly horrible and it just had to be the worst thing possible for him to be like that, but no, it was just something that happened to Aimee. Vegas liked Aimee, she was her little sister in-law after all, but the girl seemed fine to her and was still living her life just fine and not going nuts or turning into a total bitch over her step dad messing around with her, so she couldn’t really figure out why Matthew had been that way. It wasn’t like Aimee was dead; she was still fine so nothing fatal had happened to her. Vegas couldn’t say any of that, though. She was trying to make things right with her and Matthew, not even worse than they were before, so she just continued to stay quiet for a few moments while trying to figure out what the hell she could even say back to that. She eventually moved her head away from his chest and looked at him, shaking her head lightly while saying ”You’re already better than him.” Her fingers stroked his back gently, Vegas still afraid that she might hurt any of his wounds if she held on to him too tightly, saying while still looking at Matthew ”You’re a really good guy, Matthew. I love you so much and I’m proud that I’m your wife. I just don’t want you to feel like you have to hide anything from me, because your problems are my problems and I’m always going to be here for you.”
